AMA with Polygon (recap)

We had the amazing opportunity to have an AMA with the Polygon team on 3/4/2021. Here is a quick recap of what was discussed!

(Host) Arun Philips:

Hello Ladarken, Avarter, Syed, Lyule and Chillyo, welcome to the Polygon community 🙂

It’s such a pleasure to have the crew from Dark Build here!

Question #1

(Host) Arun Philips:

Could you please tell us a little about yourself and Dark.Build?

Answer

Ladarken:

Hi there, I am the lead Solidity programmer for Dark.Build.

Dark.Build is a decentralized project that exists to create bleeding edge Defi Apps.

Avarter:

Hi everyone! My name is Avarter, I’m one of the co-founders of Dark Build.

I’ve been part of the project since its initial conception phase with Ladarken at the helm. I mainly work on the social media side of Dark Build, especially maintaining our twitter and working with the rest of the team organizing and helping the community on our discord.

Syed:

Greetings, I am Syed Rizvi, I am one of the Dark Build team member I am mainly an assist to Ladarken for strategy and smart contracts deployment and testing.

Lyule:

Hello, I’m Lyule. Happy to be here, thanks for having us! I’m a member of the Branding and Marketing team for Dark. I wear many hats, but I mainly contribute to the medium articles, twitter announcements, and assist with the graphics alongside GISA our marketing lead who is not here today. That being said,

I look forward to our session and your future with us on L2 Polygon (Matic Network), welcome to #AggDeFi !

Chillyo:

Hello everyone, my name is Chillyo and I handle Business Development for Dark.Build.

I am an early adopter of the project and I have followed Ladarken’s work closely from the start. His leadership and drive, along with his sheer groundbreaking technical ability has inspired me to get involved with the project and help his vision become reality.

Question #2

(Host) Arun Philips:

Welcome to the Polygon fam gang! You guys have been building some awesome DeFi products and we’re excited to see what’s in store.

There is a strong focus on creating a community-powered DeFi and NFT powerhouse, how have you managed to attract this initial community?

Answer

Avarter:

When we started Dark Build, we decided that the key thing to building a successful and loyal community was transparency, transparency, transparency.

Our lead dev Ladarken had often expressed his distaste for projects where the admins and the team rarely answered any questions that the community wanted to know, often leaving the community in a state of confusion. That wasn’t how we wanted to treat our community, quite literally our greatest strength.

Therefore from the beginning of the project till now, we have always had at least a couple team members online at any time of the day, ready to help explain and guide the community. Since crypto never sleeps, whatever time of the day it may be.

(Host) Arun Philips:

That’s incredible. The strongest projects in the space have the strongest communities!

Question #3

(Host) Arun Philips:

Can you tell us a bit more about Dark.Build and it’s features?

Answer

Syed:

Yes, Dark.Build is evolving fast.

Chillyo:

Where to start?! Currently we have 3 tokens in the Dark.Build ecosystem: DB, dUSD, and rdUSD.

DB is a modular design token that allows for feature upgrades in the future. It has an upgraded RFI function that takes a 1% transaction fee that is currently directed to our Single Asset Staking contract. In the future, this will be redirected and distributed among all DB holders on every transaction. DB also utilizes FEI and LBI’s Bonding curve coupled with CORE’s liquidity locking. It also incorporates Frax-Shares fee collection and mint/burn features alongside dUSD. DB will also have KP3R’s feature after our exchange is launched.

dUSD is a FRAX-like fractional-algorithmic stable coin. The dUSD contract operates as a shell for the different variants that will be released, rdUSD being the first variant to launch. dUSD is a groundbreaking iteration of stable coin technology and will serve as the backbone for the exchange ecosystem. Every LP on The Exchange will be paired against dUSD, but we will get more into this later in the AMA!

Lastly, we have rdUSD, better known as rebase dUSD. rdUSD is a rebasing token that has reinvented what was started with AMPL and YAM. rdUSD will rebase every 30 minutes. rdUSD can be converted by burning DB, and can be swapped with dUSD 1:1, which then burns it out of existence. rdUSD’s main function is to add an extra layer to dUSD to ensure it stays on peg through arbitration and other mechanics.

(Host) Arun Philips:

Wow there’s so much! I think I’ll need to read your message twice to understand everything 😅

Chillyo:

It is quite complex as it is so groundbreaking, but we are always around to answer any questions in our Discord!

(Host) Arun Philips:

Would love to learn how all of these features are being executed on Polygon, we can touch on that later

Question #4

(Host) Arun Philips:

What are the major milestones Dark.Build has achieved so far and what can we expect from you guys in the future?

Answer

Lyule:

Thus far, Dark has deployed , if I’m not mistaken, the first ever true L2 native token; we did not create DB on ETH mainnet and port to L2, (we did run a conversion contract from v1 Dark to v2, but the DB code is purely Matic born) and I believe thats a crypto first ! We have a lot of L2 firsts in the pipeline, not all of which I can discuss at present time. But, we’ve improved upon and integrated, in unity, many of crypto’s most innovative token features, all into one. We’re pretty confident that in the very near future, Dark.Build will be a name as familiar as Uniswap, and hopefully even more loved!

(Host) Arun Philips:

That’s awesome! The features you’ve seamlessly brought to L2 are incredible

Question #5

(Host) Arun Philips:

Can you tell us a little bit about how your experience was building on Polygon and what are the advantages of Dark.Build working with a Layer 2 like Polygon?

Very curious to know how easy it was to move features from Ethereum over to Polygon!

Answer

Ladarken:

Test in production environment would cost so much money if it were done on ETH Mainnet, however we can always test in production on Polygon since it is almost gasless even when deploying contracts.

Working on Polygon has two major advantages. First advantage is that our users will not have to lose unnecessary money from gas ever again. Second advantage is that being almost gasless opens a lot more paths for us to take on creating new apps, no need to waste time on fine-tuning variables or design for saving gas.

(Host) Arun Philips:

Haha testing in Prod, Polygon for life!

Super excited for the gasless applications.

Question #6

(Host) Arun Philips:

What are the advantages of Dark.Build’s platform compared to other DeFi and staking platforms?

Answer

Chillyo:

We are very excited to talk about this today.

Upon release of The Exchange, users will have access to first of its kind revolutionary options for liquidity provision. Each LP will be paired against dUSD, so users will only need to deposit a single asset, and the exchange will match that with equivalent dUSD. This will allow users to utilize their maximum value potential and save them from having to stake 2 assets.

But what about IL if dUSD is always $1 you may ask? Our system will mitigate IL by returning users both their asset and some dUSD to cover most IL that is incurred.

We also have a NFT marketplace in the works that will be cutting edge. In addition to that, we have plans for a credit platform backed by dUSD’s power.

(Host) Arun Philips:

That sounds really incredible! Can’t wait to see this in action

Question #7

(Host) Arun Philips:

What will the future of Dark.Build in the decentralized revolution look like? Can you talk to us about your roadmap?

Answer

Lyule:

It is our hope, that Dark.Build, in the decentralized revolution, will be a very common name among crypto traders and market-makers. We believe in the power of Polygon and its ever growing strength and adoption in crypto, and we aim to be among the most used products on the Polygon Network. With that in mind:

From day one, Dark has believed in an evolving roadmap so to speak, hence you will be hard pressed to find one traditionally stated anywhere on our website or channels. Our code was designed with “modularity” in mind, as true to the Dark Ethos, we believe in continuous evolution and refinement of our products.

Dark.Build has many things in store in the near future. As some of you may know, after months of development, the light version of our exchange is coming out very soon ! We’ve been tossing around many ideas, and cant wait to show you some of the things we’ve been developing, such as : frontrun-protection, auto-arbitrage, limit-orders, single-sided liquidity provisioning, perpetual farming, an incentivized NFT marketplace, “smart-burn” mechanics integrated into our governance token “DB”, and some pretty awesome new NFT features integrated into the exchange itself. We are ever evolving, and thus have a continuous rollout of features planned for the coming months. We’re pretty confident a few of these things are going to create some waves in the space upon release as we’re here to change the current state of DeFi.

(Host) Arun Philips:

It’s awesome to see such amazing ideas powered by a decentralized community! Polygon is proud to support your journey 🙂

Question #8

(Host) Arun Philips:

Before we conclude, I think there are many in the community who would love to join the Dark.Build community and stay up to date with all the news. What’s the best way to keep in touch?

Answer

Avarter:

Our discord and twitter have been running since Dark.Build began, our communities are filled with both veterans and new comers alike. The best thing about our community is the atmosphere of friendship and comfort.
We have technical support channels available for those who have encountered problems, a general discussion area for the majority of the community to talk about anything related to Dark.Build, we even have a crypto-news channel that we plan to update more in the future, giving our community the current news and events happening in the cryptocurrency world, and so much more. We’ve cultivated our discord and twitter into a safe space where anyone can voice their opinions or talk through any problems they have.

To conclude, we’d just like to invite everyone here to join us on our discord to discuss or simply to chat with us: https://discord.gg/darkbuild. Question

Sunday Joshua:

In your medium, I read that your ecosystem assured investors of Impermanent loss protection and flash loan attacks and botting impossible. Can you tell us how you possible achieve it?

Answer

Lyule:

I believe we stated “botting would be made very difficult” , impossible is a very strong phrase to use. Stopping flash loans is actually not complicated. There are many ways to stop it, and many ways to counteract the stop, but we have a few things in store for that. As for botting, I personally cant speak on that as that’s more in the coding department.

Ladarken:

Impermanent loss can be off-setted by dUSD. Because every liquidity pool has dUSD paired with, you will have two situations during a IL:
1, you get less of your deposited token for liquidity + more dUSD;
2, you get more of your deposited token for liquidity.
IL is off-setted for the first situation, and IL does not really matter for second situation.

Question

Moses Torid:

When do you planned to carryout burn of DB ? How sustainable is the APY? What class of users best enjoy Dark Build platform?

Answer

Chillyo:

The DB burn mechanism will kick in after it reaches our max supply of 30k. This milestone is probably still around 2 years away though, as we have a sustainable plan in place for the minting of DB.

Every class of crypto user can enjoy the platform. We have everything from simple SaS (Single asset staking) to LP’s, to the more advanced rebasing mechanism coming soon.

Question

Tampa:

dUSD is still traded way under one USD. This is literally free money on the table. Why do you think this is happening or am I missing something?

Answer

Chillyo:

People seem very excited about the release of rdUSD, as that is trading around $4.8. dUSD balance will begin once rebase function is activated soon.

Question

Crypto_Rehab:

Many DEXs on Polygon now like Sushi and Quickswap how will DB compete? Any plans of an airdrop for users?

Answer

Lyule:

To put it simply, innovation. They may have existed before us on L1 and be porting to L2, but everything we’re deploying has been purpose built on and for L2 to take full advantage of the speed and cost efficiency of Polygon. You’re about to see us release some first of it’s kind features that stack on one another like true Legos. Single sided liquidity being a prime example

(Host) Arun Philips:

That’s a brilliant set of answers guys! We’re super excited to see everything DB has in store

Chillyo:

One last quick note Arun, as we definitely prepared for the airdrop question :)

(Host) Arun Philips:

Of course, was wondering why that Q was not answered :P

Alpha Alert

Chillyo:

We haven’t yet decided the threshold to be eligible yet, but we plan an NFT airdrop for DB holders when we launch The Exchange ;) We have our best artists cooking up something really exciting, and this NFT will also provide utility inside of our Discord community!

(Host) Arun Philips:

Oh wow that sounds incredible 🔥

Chillyo:

More to come on that shortly 😉

(Host) Arun Philips:

Haha we can’t wait! Thanks once again for joining us today guys!
